As a teenager stumbling my way through learning the settings of my camera, pets were among my earliest subjects. My elderly black Lab, Rookie, was a patient model– she never complained that I was taking too long. She simply waited quietly until I got it just right or decided to give up for the day. When I wanted to try again, she was always there ready and willing.
Then came along puppies Purl and Fleur, a less patient but ever loving chocolate and yellow Lab duo. After gaining some foundation with Rookie, these two taught me to think on my feet and be ready to capture whatever antics they had in store. For years, when I was in need of a pick me up, I headed to the back yard with those two and a camera.
It's the love I have for capturing my dogs’ personalities in pictures that inspires me to capture the personalities of pets of all kinds.
